back Application:

Disc-grinding offers a wide range of applications. The basic functional components are based on highly flexible servo-motor systems which are controlled by the MMC-software allowing to precisely control all necessary movement and pressure parameters and to achieve highest quality standards as well as highly reproducible results.

The disc-grinding system has been designed to allow individual adaptation to special applications, production targets and quality requirements. Special applications are:
sawing and grinding function for removing (sawing-off) the waste glass and grinding the bottom (grinding of planar surfaces) of glass items produced by injection pressing
sawing and grinding function for removing (sawing-off) the top or cap of thick-walled blown glass items and grinding and bevelling the rim
sawing slots into pressed picture frames to hold photographs
grinding and polishing of planar surfaces
decoration grinding based on servo-motor systems and the MMC-software

back Sawing and Bevelling of Rims

Application:
The sawing and grinding unit has been designed for three kinds of applications.
First: for removing (sawing-off) the waste glass and grinding the bottom (grinding of planar surfaces) of glass items produced by injection pressing before they are acid-polished;
Second: for removing (sawing-off) the top or cap of thick-walled blown glass items and grinding and bevelling the rim.
Third: a special sawing unit allows to process pressed picture frames by grinding slots to hold photographs.

Mode of operation:

The glass item is loaded onto the rotating table in the loading station, is held by a mechanical gripper and is moved through the different functional stations. In the sawing station, the waste glass of the rotating glass item is cut off by a rotating grinding disc. In the following grinding stations a vertical movement of the holding device controls the contact of the glass item with the grinding disc and the planar bottom is ground.

back Surface Grinding and Mechanical Polishing of Planar Surfaces

Application:
Planar surfaces (i.e. of lenses) are ground on different stations, achieving a higher surface finish with every step. In a separate processing cycle based on the same processing principle, the planar surface may be mechanically polished so that no acid polishing is required.

Mode of operation:

The roundtable is equipped with vacuum article holders. A vertical movement of the article holder controls the contact between the glass item and the grinding disc. The glass item is moved on to the next station so that the planar surface of the glass item is ground or polished on different grinding stations. The grinding stations are equipped with different grinding discs rough grinding and fine grinding in various degrees. The glass item is then transferred into a second cycle, where it is mechanically polished in various degrees.

back Decoration Grinding

Application:
Based on highly flexible servo-motor systems, the MMC-software allows to perform all movements for decoration grinding. Since all movement axes (including lines, diagonals and spirals) may be performed, the system proves highly flexible for any cutting design.
